In Part 1, I talked about self-limiting beliefs as being the main factor in keeping us in the life experience that we are living.
Now, in Part 2, I’ll be exploring ways to work with these self-limiting beliefs.
At this point, you have probably heard of the blockbuster movie, The Secret (if not, you can check out their website at www.thesecret.tv). In the movie, more than a couple dozen wisdom teachers and successful entrepreneurs share their *secret* for an abundant life.
What’s the *secret*? The Law of Attraction.
The Secret focuses on and explores the law of attraction as the driving force behind everything. In the film, the producers had us see that our thoughts and feelings bring more of those particular qualities (empowering or dis-empowering) into our lives.
That is, if we’re thinking and feeling *lack and limitation*, we’ll experience more of *lack and limitation*. If we focus on *ease and success,* we’ll have more of that.
Now, one thing that The Secret didn’t completely mention, but is true none-the-less is that the Law of Attraction is not merely attracting to us our predominant thoughts and feelings—it’s actually much deeper than that…
Here is a more complete picture…
The Law of Attraction is reflecting back to us, the type of person who we’ve become. In other words, we get more in life of who we already are or are becoming.
If I am a pessimistic person, I will have more experiences that will prove to me that my world view is correct. On the contrary, the more that I’m an optimist, I will see more positive qualities in people, events, situations, etc. and experience the world in an affirming way.
Whatever we believe, it will prove itself out in our life and ultimately come true—for us (in our own reality).
Here's another example, going back to the issue of money which I addressed in the last blog entry, if I have a belief that I can only make a certain amount of money or that I am not good with investing money, it won’t matter if I only think and feel positively about money.
Please don’t get me wrong.
Positive thoughts, affirmations and visualizations are very important in the process of creating a conscious, abundant life of our dreams. AND, in addition to these things, we need to focus on the beliefs that we hold that are preventing us from taking ACTION in order to manifest our dreams.
According to different authors, including T. Harv Eker, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind:
Thoughts lead to Feelings lead to Actions lead to Results.
Thoughts and feelings are another way of saying our beliefs. So, I prefer to re-phrase this as:
Our Beliefs lead to Our Actions which lead to Our Results.
Without taking ACTION, there is little that can be accomplished.
To paraphrase, James Arthur Ray, one of the instructors in The Secret being interviewed by Oprah, *we can visualize all the money in the world while sitting on our sofa, but unless we take action, we will be visualizing from the curb when they come to take our furniture and home away.*
Action is the key to producing results.
So, if we’re not seeing the results we want in our life, all that means is that we haven’t taken the actions necessary for those results to show up in our life. When I say actions, I mean both externally-focused goals and goal-setting and internally-focused self-growth practices.
Some internally-focused practices include grounding/centering exercises, meditation, affirmations, visualizations, etc. Each of these practices assists us to get in touch with our true selves.
Who we are on the outside is only a reflection of who we are on the inside.
So, going back to my original point…
We attract more into our life (i.e., what we see on the OUTSIDE) based on who we are, or are becoming (i.e., what we think, feel and believe on the INSIDE).
Again, it goes back to the issue of self-limiting beliefs that stand in our way of moving forward preventing us from taking any necessary ACTION for permanent change to take place.
How do we change our inner world so it reflects more of what we want to see in our outer world?
Here are some suggestions:
1) Set specific time for yourself to spend reflecting on your life. What do you really want in life? What makes you feel empowered? What give you life? Focus on it, feel the joy in thinking about it and move into becoming more of the person who can sustain that aspect in your life.
2) As you clarify your desires and begin to understand your limiting beliefs, you can consciously choose to either continue holding onto them or release them. Once they're released, you can create new, more affirming (true to yourself) beliefs.
Some suggestions to begin this process:
- Meditate
- Take a Silent Walk, or
- Journal
Whatever you choose, it shouldn’t be a chore and ultimately it should give you the results you’re looking for. In other words, you want to feel good about doing it on a regular basis--not dread.
Something that I’ve been doing is listening to specially mastered Brainwave Technology CDs which have been assisting my brain to go into different specific brainwave patterns.
The tones on the CDs themselves put me into a deep state of meditation while providing me with a clear, intense focus. Through this technology, my brain is creating new neural pathways literally restructuring and re-balancing my brain.
Sounds too good to be true? Weird?! Or, science fiction?!
No, it’s none-of-these. It’s actually supported by pure science. Check out some articles in the Holosync site’s *About Us* section.
Since I’ve been using the brainwave technology CDs, I feel that I have gained a higher threshold for stress and have better clarity, focus and creativity. Some of my obstacles (self-limiting beliefs) have also been dissolved.
Check out the Insight/Focus CD Combo Package from Immrama.
Both Insight/Focus and Holosync are really good. Check out both links and determine for yourself how this technology can assist you.
3) Once you’ve committed to having time set aside for yourself and have clarified your desires, I would suggest finding other like-minded people for mutual support, sharing of experiences and continued increased personal growth.
Events such as T. Harv Eker’s, The Millionaire Mind Evening and The Millionaire Mind Intensive are good opportunities to network, connect and begin your growth work with other like minded people.
Also, find support systems within your community such as spiritual centers, meditation centers and other places where the focus is on personal growth and development in a nurturing setting. For example, check out Dr. Michael Beckwith’s Agape InternationalSpiritual Center and other places such as The Center for Spiritual Living in Chicago.
Hopefully, these suggestions will assist you in becoming more fully yourself while empowering you to strive beyond your self-imposed limits.
So, Let’s Summarize Part 2:
- We experience in our OUTER World that which we are in our INNER World.
- Our Beliefs = Our Results
- Positive thoughts and feelings without ACTION is only ½ the equation.
- Spend time by yourself, focused on your INNER World.
- Clarify your desires through different tools including Brainwave Technology.
- Find support in your community to sustain and deepen your personal growth (which ultimately affects the growth and consciousness expansion of all humanity.
Thanks for joining me on this journey. I hope this information is helpful.
I look forward to your comments; let me know what you think and feel.
Peace and Blessings,
Rich
